Letter to the new prime minister

GENEVA, SWITZERLAND: You made many promises during your election campaign. Now you have to deliver. It is not going to be easy, and speed will be of essence for the momentum to be maintained.

You are well aware of the need for changes in the socio-economic, cultural, political and foreign policy realms. Your first priority must, therefore, be to tap the best brains of the country as your closest advisers who also cherish the moral and ethical values enshrined in Islam and on which the country was founded. This may necessitate formulating policies aimed at reversing the brain drain of the past unfortunate decades. Your team of senior advisers, cabinet members, ambassadors, etc could conceivably be part of this select group.

I end this letter with prayers for Almighty Allah’s choicest blessings on you in the fulfillment of your most laudable endeavours.

Iqbal Ali Mohamed
