‘Hospitals to plant 1,000 trees’

LAHORE: District and Tehsil Headquarter hospitals have been given a target to plant between 500 to 1,000 trees, said Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Secretary Ali Bahadur Qazi. He expressed these views while inaugurating the tree plantation campaign by planting a sapling at the Health Secretariat on Sunday. He directed department officers and officials to participate in the tree plantation campaign. Planting trees in hospitals will provide a healthy and pollution free environment to patients and staff, he stressed. He maintained that a hundred saplings will also be planted in the health secretariat. He added that the administration at rural health centres and basic health units have also been asked to plant trees in their premises. “Huge shady trees help to produce oxygen and overcome environmental pollution,” he said.
