Yasinzai assures varsity of funds release
QUETTA : Governor Amanullah Yasinzai has assured the administration of the Lasbela University of Agriculture, Water and Marine Sciences that the issue of release of funds from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) will be discussed with the prime minister.
Speaking to reporters after inaugurating a residential colony in the university on Friday, Yasinzai said the HEC must ensure financial support to universities so that their problems could be minimised.
He lauded the university administration for completing the construction work in minimum time. The governor also said the school in the colony would be upgraded and the quality of education would be raised to the international standard. He expressed hope that the school would be beneficial for the residents of the colony.
Meanwhile, in a meeting with faculty members and deans, Yasinzai said it was his third visit to a university after taking over as governor. He said he was aware of the difficulties faced by universities in Balochistan.

“The issues faced by these universities will be addressed soon. The provincial government will urge the HEC to release funds for these universities,” he said.
During the meeting, Vice Chancellor Dost Mohammad Baloch said that the governor had been informed about the ongoing development projects and the number of staff and faculty members, as well as the students, enrolled in the university.
Baloch said sub-campuses of the university had been set up in Wadh and Dera Murad Jamali to facilitate the people of those areas.
The governor expressed satisfaction over the performance of the university. He said all the required facilities would be provided to the university and its development would be ensured.
“We often praise the universities of Sindh and Punjab over their performance. These universities are governed by sincere people. We have to work hard collectively to make Lasbela University a model institution,” said Yasinzai.
