Teacher recruitment system
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan lacks a teaching council. There should be a council for teachers which can be named as Pakistan Teaching Council, where the licence to teachers is issued. Having no such body is one of the reasons for our weak educational system that the teachers having no knowledge of the subject get a job in schools that are operating without any standard procedural code. This system of recruiting teachers should be ended and a new system to recruit teachers should be introduced. It is being observed everywhere, almost in all schools and institutes that the candidates are first interviewed and then given tests before being made to go through the tough demo in a classroom in the presence of senior teachers.
Upon clearance from this stage, a teacher is then hired on a probationary period. After clearing all these stages, one bags the job of a teacher. I request the ministry concerned and the education department to formulate a policy for the hiring of teachers and to introduce a new hiring system for teachers like the PMDC and the PNC, where tests are conducted before one can even become eligible to apply for teaching positions in schools.
