Poor technology

SHIKARPUR: It is a fact that Pakistan is rich in natural resources. The country is one of the largest cotton-producing countries in the world.

Unfortunately, we lag behind in terms of technical and modern machinery to have more units to generate multiple types of cotton yarn. If the system works efficiently and properly, no country can compete with us in the textile field.

The textile sector contributes close to 46 per cent to our total GDP. Cotton separately contributes 60 per cent of the total exports of the country. If the cotton industry is paid proper attention, it could lead us towards phenomenal economic growth in the long run.
