Shehbaz Sharif elected PAC chairman unopposed
Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif was unanimously elected chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Friday, Express News reported.
The first PAC meeting will be held on December 28, said Shehbaz after being elected.

The move came after a four-month-long tussle between the treasury and opposition benches over the committee. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) conceded to the opposition’s demand of giving Shehbaz the chair, but with an added condition that special panels probing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz government’s expenditure will be headed by a member of the treasury bench.
Parliamentary heavyweights included in PAC
On Thursday, the House unanimously passed a motion – tabled by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan – for the creation of PAC and Standing Committee on Law and Justice.
The committee boasts parliamentary heavyweights including Syed Fakhar Iman, Nasrullah Dreshak, Akhter Mengal, Riaz Fatyana, Amir Dogar, Munaza Hassan, Noor Alam Khan, Sheraiz Mahmood, Iqbal Muhammad Ali Khan, Ali Nawaz Shah, Hussain Ilahi, Ijaz Shah, Raja Riaz, Shahbaz Sharif, Khawaja Asif, Ayaz Sadiq, Rana Tanvir Hussain, Sheikh Rohail Asghar, Shahid Akhter Ali, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Syed Naveed Qamar, Syed Hussain Tariq and Hina Rabbani Khar.
