PM Imran to address public gathering in Muzaffarabad today

Prime Minister Imran Khan is scheduled to address a public gathering in Muzaffarabad on Friday to express solidarity with Kashmiris suffering under New Delhi’s draconian lockdown in the occupied valley.

On Wednesday, the premier announced the public gathering with the objective of highlighting the siege of the Himalayan region by the occupying Indian forces.

I am going to do a big jalsa in Muzzafarabad on Friday 13 Sept, to send a message to the world about the continuing siege of IOJK by Indian Occupation forces; & to show the Kashmiris that Pakistan stands resolutely with them.

This will be the premier’s third visit to Azad Jammu and Kashmir since August 5, when the Narendra Modi-led government revoked Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that granted special status to IOK and imposed an information and communication clampdown.

The prime minister addressed the AJK legislative assembly on Independence Day. On Defence Day, he also visited the Line of Control (LOC) and met families of martyred soldiers and civilians.

In a weekly press briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal said PM Imran will deliver a policy statement on the Kashmir issue.

This is a developing story and will be updated accordingly.
