Panel stresses need for rebranding of post offices


ISLAMABAD  : The Senate Standing Committee on Postal Services on Thursday stressed the need for efforts for re-branding of post offices across the country during an in camera meeting chaired by Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh at Parliament House.

The committee also expressed concern over misconducts, irregular appointments, and accumulated losses in the post. The chairman said: “The purpose of the committee is to improve Pakistan Post and in this regard we will do all in our power.”

He added that keeping in view recommendations, the committee will ensure that compliance status be reviewed in every meeting and with a collective view decisions will be taken to formulate further action for the betterment of the country.

Shaikh lauded the efforts of the members and assured them that with the help of the committee members no stone will be left unturned to take the institution forward.

The Senate panel also pondered on measures for increasing the post’s business and land recovery.

Moreover, the committee deliberated over work carried out by the committee since 2018.

The meeting was attended by senators Mirza Muhammad Afridi, Rana Mahmoodul Hassan, Anwar Lal Dean, Islamuddin Shaikh, Mushtaq Ahmed and Aurangzeb Khan.
