Finding geniuses

NOKKUNDI: The greatest genius of the twentieth century, Albert Einstein, once said, “Everybody is a genius but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it’ll live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” The contemporary educational system of Pakistan is designed in a way that students are forced to believe that they’re stupid. Rather than identifying geniuses, teachers force them to swim even if they’re better at flying. Most of the students feel disheartened and disappointed due to evaluation criteria. Students have different mindsets, accomplishments, skills, desires and goals. The current education system will not only lead to unprofessional graduates, but also less successful people.

Teachers must try to identify the critical strength of students and their uniqueness that distinguishes them from the rest, in which they can excel in their future. Lack of career counseling will lead to disappointment. Additionally, lack of awareness and guidance about what career to pursue, diminishes their motivation and compels them to end their studies. Therefore, teachers and educationists must play their role in helping students.
