AC issues last warning to accused in golf club corruption reference

Court also orders closing embassy building sale case against ex-ambassador over his death

An accountability court on Monday issued final warning to three Malaysian citizens in the Royal Palm Golf Club corruption reference and ordered them to appear before it by November 26.

The case was heard by Accountability Court-III judge Asghar Ali.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor Waseem Javeed appeared before the court and informed it about the progress report of the case.

Three Malaysian citizens Dato Mohd Kasa bin Ada Aziz, Anuar bin Adam and Aldian bin Adam, who are accused in the case, did not appear before the court despite the issuance of their non-bailable arrest warrants.

The court started making preparations to declare them proclaimed offenders and issued last warning ordering that they appear before it by November 26.

The judge adjourned the hearing of the case until November 26.

Former ISI DG General (retired) Javed Ashraf Qazi, who served as railways minister during the regime of military ruler General Pervez Musharraf, retired Lt Gen Saeeduz Zafar, retired Major Gen Hamid Hassan and retired Brigadier Akhtar Ali Baig were nominated as accused in the Royal Palm Golf Club, Lahore, corruption reference.

Other accused include Iqbal Samad Khan, Khurshid Ahmed Khan, Abdul Ghaffar, Ramzan Sheikh, Pervaiz Qureshi, sponsors of the golf club and five other officers allegedly involved in illegal award of lease of the club.

Separately, the accountability court also ordered quashing the reference pertaining to the illegal sale of Pakistan embassy building in Indonesia against former ambassador Mustafa Anwar due to his death.

The deceased had allegedly caused a loss of $1,320,000 to the national exchequer by illegally selling the embassy building.
